Adams Morgan | Capitol Hill | Dupont | Palisades | Logan Circle | U Street
The U Street Corridor has recently become a thriving commercial strip, surrounded by rowhouses that have become a magnet for the city's hipsters.
The neighborhood has served as a hub of the African-American community. Poet Langston Hughes and jazz great Duke Ellington both grew up in the U Street area. Along with Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Redd Foxx, they made U Street bars world-famous with their performances.
